Our Mission

Through collaborative endeavors among higher education institutions, the Hartford Consortium for Higher Education promotes optimal sharing of collegial resources, information, expertise and ideas; serves as a catalyst for innovative educational initiatives that respond to a changing education environment; encourages educational excellence across the lifespan; and asserts the role of higher education in the economic, cultural and social life of Hartford and the region.

Our Vision

Collaboration among HCHE member institutions will result in the Greater Hartford region being known for its vibrant college culture and recognized as a destination for college students.

Cross Registration

The cross registration program is as old as the Hartford Consortium for Higher Education. In 1972, the five original private institutions decided to open their doors to permit students from any member campus to study at another school. Today, undergraduates, graduate students and full-time employees (including full-time employees of affiliate members) can study at every one of the 5 private, 3 public and 2 seminary members of HCHE. Grants

The Hartford Consortium for Higher Education (HCHE) provides opportunities for collaboration among faculty, student, staff and administrators at its member institutions. The Faculty Grant Program is one form of collaboration. HCHE encourages participants to develop joint projects involving two or more member institutions that benefit the projects' members and the wider community in the Hartford area. Learn more
