Regional Roundtable
The Consortium sponsors roundtables on a variety of important issues relevant to MetroHartford and to higher education.
On February 2, 2012 the Consortium convened a regional roundtable on challenges and promising practices in student retention, especially among under-represented and adult students on college campuses. Dr. Robert Kennedy, President of the Board of Regents for the Department of Higher Education, was keynote speaker for the event held at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
The roundtable was presented as part of the Talent Dividend Prize initiative being sponsored by CEOs for Cities. A prize of $1 million will be awarded in 2013 to the metro-area that demonstrates the largest per capita increase in degree completion among 57 cities and urban areas in the country. Lumina and Kresge Foundations jointly are funding the competition.
Senior leaders from academic, admissions, diversity and student affairs offices at 13 public and private colleges and universities, as well as representatives from 5 community organizations and foundations, participated in the program. The final report is available (pdf file below).
